new board. half ton full size pickups only, which means the F-150, the Silverado and Sierra 1500, the Ram 1500, the Tundra and the Titan. if your tailgate says 2500 or 3500 or there are six tires on the thing, there are big boards for you already and i will not take it personally when you go to them.

three departments. Pickup talk is the truck: stickers, boxes, covers, seats, screens, rust, the rattle that showed up at 60,000 miles. Towing, engines and service is the work: trailers, tongue weight, trans temps, brake controllers, tires, and the oil change argument we are all going to have eventually. Buying and auctions is the money department: your invoice, the lot the truck came off, and what you found in the first month of owning it.

why i started it. i spent 22 years behind a parts counter in Lincoln and i answered the same four questions a thousand times, and three of them were about payload. people would come in with a brochure number in their head and a yellow sticker on the door frame telling them something nine hundred pounds different. there is no good reason that has to keep being a surprise.

four rules and then i will quit typing. your first line gets the year, the trim, the engine and the cab and box. buying reports get the invoice figures in them. nothing gets sold inside a thread, because i left the classifieds off this site deliberately and i am not adding one. and anybody drawing a paycheck from a dealership, a lender, an auction house or a hauling outfit says so in the post where it comes up. after that, be decent to each other. the EcoBoost men, the 5.3 men and the Hemi men are all stuck on the same four pages together.

accounts are by email request while i get a handle on the spam. write in with what you drive and what county it is parked in and i will set you up. the long version of all of this is on the about page. chris.

signed up from Duluth. one request, chris. make people put the engine in the thread title and not just the trim. half the threads i read on the big sites are titled something like "Sierra 1500 mpg" and then four pages in you find out it is a 6.2 and you have a 2.7 and none of it applied to you.

second thing while i am here. is the box length going in the sticky too? a 5 ft 8 and a 6 ft 6 are different trucks for anybody hauling sheet goods or a snowblower, and the spec pages all bury it.

both added to the rules on the about page, engine and box. i am not going to rename anybody's thread over it, i will just reply asking, same as everybody else does.

the counter says 41 signups since tuesday, and i had penciled in about a dozen for the first month, so somebody out there is linking us. two of the 41 turn wrenches for a living and one of them signs the checks on forty fleet trucks a year, which means the answers in here are already better than a three day old website deserves.

heads up that august and september are when everybody starts shopping for a truck to haul a deer stand or a camper with, so the buying department is going to fill up. if you are about to spend thirty thousand dollars, read what the people in there paid first. it is cheaper than finding out yourself.

Year, trim, engine, cab and box in the first line. Say what you paid. Read your own door jamb sticker before you ask about payload.
